I fell in love with glass in 1974 when I saw a glass lampshade for sale that I couldn’t afford. I decided I would learn to make one - so eventually I made a glass terrarium. More and more ideas for glass would follow.
Making art glass pieces became a flexible part-time job while I was in college. I slowly moved on to more intricate designs, making windows, lampshades and pressed flower boxes. Later adding beveling, wheel engraving, fusing and copper welding.
Most of what I do in art glass is custom work for individuals or groups. I can work with all types of glass and/or copper builds. When asked to create a one-of-a-kind piece, it’s usually my next challenge.
Patience is definitely a virtue when working with art glass, though it’s much more predictable now with experience. Most designs and elements of my work come from nature. My love of nature and working with my hands are combined.
